Mike Metcalfe Architecture & Urban Planning Scholarship at Emerson Community Charter Middle School

The Mike Metcalfe Scholarship will provide grants to students at Emerson Middle School for projects in the fields of architecture and urban design.  We look forward to inspiring and enabling young architects and urban planners – all while remembering a much-admired community leader.

Remembering Mike Metcalfe

Michael Metcalfe’s rich background shaped his love of public spaces and urban environments, which led to his career in design, urban planning and people-oriented architecture. His adult life was spent in Westwood, California, where he left a lasting impression on his community.

After high school Michael served in the US Naval Reserve and, in 1970 he graduated from UCLA‘s Graduate School of Architecture and Urban Planning.  His work has ranged from international award-winning projects in Europe, Latin America, the Middle East, the Far East and major urban projects throughout the United States.

We will all miss Mike.
